Vasiliki Karantzavelou

PhD student

Vasiliki Karantzavelou is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of History and Philosophy of Science at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She is currently researching the social construction of olive oil in Greece, employing archival materials and discourse analysis from stakeholders. She earned her B.A. in Philosophy, Pedagogy, and Psychology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, an M.Sc. in Social Psychology of Conflicts from Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, and an M.A. from the STS Interdepartmental Program at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Her research interests include the examination of expertise and lay expertise, risk conceptualization, the social construction of food, and perceptions on food locality, authenticity, and health aspects. She has experience in qualitative research, analyzing farmers’ discourse and stakeholders’ engagement, while aspiring to apply a social representations approach in Science and Technology Studies (STS). From 2022 to 2023, she was a research associate at “Configuring Environment and Food: Critical Techno-scientific Networks and the Agri-food sector in Greece, 1950-2017 (CONEF). From 2024 she is a research associate at “Go-JuST” and assistant researcher at “Pro-Climate”.
