Larissa workshop I
Water Management
Water management through the merger of TOEBs on the basis of their financial soundness, with partial autonomy, for water governance through strict cooperation protocols.
“Strengthening the Pinios Irrigation Network (LAP Piniou) using water from the Acheloos River”
Connection with local dams: Neochoritis, Mouzaki, Pyli Trikalon, Litheos.
Storage works for winter runoff of local importance (Narthaki, Deleria, Kaklitzorema), the Gyrtoni sluice gate, and the Mavromati dam.
Karla expansion – Construction of a gravity-fed water transfer ditch from the Gyrtoni area to the new Karla.
Construction of small flow-retention dams (check dams).
Activation of the existing institutional framework on water abstraction [National Water Abstraction Registry] and control of boreholes with meters.
Abolition of surface irrigation with canals [transition to closed systems].
Full expansion of drip irrigation.
Energy – Land Use
Investment in new smart irrigation technologies.
Installation of agro-photovoltaic systems (elevated panels) to enable dual land use.
Crop Management
Zoning and subsequent recognition of land types.
Precision agriculture (sensors, metering) / Good agricultural practices (green manuring, crop rotation, etc.).
Rational expansion of irrigated areas (cotton, corn, alfalfa).
Implementation of cultivation practices for soil protection (cover crops, no-till, reduced tillage).
New high value-added crops (aromatic–medicinal plants, etc.).
Strict implementation of certification standards to achieve specific market-required qualities.
Designation of new cultivation zones through new value chains structured around product certification standards.
