Dimitra Barkouta

Dimitra Barkouta holds a PhD from the Department of History and Philosophy of Science at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, with a postgraduate degree in Renewable Energy Technologies. Her dissertation, “Technological Transformations, Infrastructures and the Environment: The Environmental Impact Assessment at the Interface of Policy, Science and Society, lies at the intersection of research in the social sciences, renewable energy, and environmental and energy policy. Through her multidimensional professional experience in aspects of renewable energy, she has gained significant insight into the national and European energy sectors. She has worked both on techno-economic analyses and the processing of energy data within the framework of private renewable energy investment projects, and in monitoring the implementation of policies for the promotion of renewable energy and energy efficiency, as well as on issues of collective investment in the fields of renewable energy and energy efficiency, such as Energy Communities, in organizations including the Ministry of Energy and Climate Change, the Ministry of Interior, and the Center for Renewable Energy Sources and Saving. At the research level, she has dealt with the development of policy proposals and technical issues concerning renewable energy, as well as with the analysis of the social impacts of the energy transition.
