Sotiris Alexakis

Post-doctoral researcher

Sotiris is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of History and Philosophy of Science at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Agricultural Science from the Agricultural University of Athens. Subsequently, he pursued his postgraduate studies in the two-year inter-university MSc Program “History and Philosophy of Science and Technology,” jointly offered by NKUA and NTUA. In 2023, he completed his PhD thesis in NKUA, focusing on technoscientific networks and politics in Greek Agriculture. His research interests encompass the intersection of science, technology, and society, particularly within the agricultural context.

Between 2020 and 2023, Sotiris was a member of the research team of the project “Configuring Environment and Food: Critical Techno-scientific Networks and the Agri-food sector in Greece, 1950-2017 (CONEF)”. Since 2024, he has been conducting postdoctoral research focused on the history and contemporary policies and politics of seeds and plant breeding; within the framework of the project “Governing Just Sociotechnical Transitions: a Co-productionist Model of Sustainable Futures in the Agrifood Sector (Go-JuST)”, funded by the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation.
